Day 1: 9:00 Soils Science in South Africa background 11:00 Soil Types of South Africa and their properties (Chemical and Physical with emphasis on physical properties) 13:00 Lunch 14:00 Typical soil properties which presents challenges for crop production in South Africa and agricultural practices to alleviate the limits of these soil properties 16:00 Group discussion pertaining the soil properties in the area where the workshop is being held which are regarded as a crop production limit and how it can the limitation can be alleviated or removed Day 2: 8:00 Feedback session on group discussion form day 1 and introduction to how to analyze a soil profile 11:00 Visit profile hole/pits with demonstration for the identification and interpretation of soil properties 12:00 Each attendee gets the chance to identify 2 soil profiles with personal feedback and assessment 15:00 Final group discussion regarding questions which arises during the practical session
